Welcome, and thank you for your interest!
The logo represents the initials MLR from my name, Mirtha Lydia Ramos. I come from a small town (well it used to be small) in South Florida named Homestead. I lived in New York between the ages of 3 and 10, and traveled to Florida during school breaks. My father was born in Cuba and migrated with my grandparents, aunt and uncle to the U.S. when he was 12 years old. My mother was born in New York but my grandparents are from Puerto Rico.
I started the workforce at a very young age and have been a hustler (hard worker) ever since. From babysitting to waitressing at largely known fast food chain restaurant Sonics in Florida City, FL and then adding a receptionist position as a secondary job. Eventually I went on to my longest held job as of yet at a software development company in Miami, FL. During my tenure there I learned proper English, how to juggle being a mother, full-time student and full-time employee, and the true meaning of starting at the bottom to working your way to the top. Due to my early successes, I dared myself to venture off on my own 2 short months from my 10th year anniversary with the company.
I graduated from Homestead Senior High School in 1995 in Homestead, FL and went straight to college. I have degrees from Miami Dade Community College and Florida International University. I believe that education, one way or another, is everything. The more you know the more opportunities you have. I continue forward with my education through self-educating, attending and completing certified and un-certified courses and programs.
Soon after high school and shortly after starting college I chose to become a mother. I really didn’t know much about much but thought having a baby was the next step to womanhood. I ended up dropping out of college. Soon after my son was born reality set in, there was no way that this was IT, so my mind started planning for the future! Shortly after his 1 year birthday I decided to go back to school and earned my degrees in the mist of many adversities. My son is now 19 years old and currently in college.
I recently made a career change by starting my very own business, MLR Consulting Services, on September 1, 2016. I knew that if I could be passionate and successful with other people’s dreams, I could certainly be for my own.
I am driven by passion. I am probably one of the most passionate people you’ll ever meet. My passion is so intense that I have to check myself, like “relax!”
I’m compassionate but also inspired by life’s difficulties. I believe we should embrace our short comings and transform them into victories. I have been through many life changing events that, although they were major storms, have shown me there is more to life outside of our traumas. I am a self motivated woman who is determined to fight back on life’s difficult battles. One way or another, I’m going to make it happen!
My blogs will go deeper on life’s adversities and how I made it through with hopes that it will help you through too! So please, enjoy the ride with me!
